Red Ramblings LOST!
2008. A year where I was struggling to find a song that really stood out. And then came... LOST!Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost
Doesn't mean I'll stop
Doesn't mean I will cross
Just because I'm hurting
Doesn't mean I'm hurt
Doesn't mean I didn't get what I deserve
No better and no worse
I just got lost
Every river that I've tried to cross
And every door I ever tried was locked
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off...
You might be a big fish
In a little pond
Doesn't mean you've won
'Cause along may come
A bigger one
And you'll be lost
Every river that you try to cross
Every gun you ever held went off
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the firing stops
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off...I've already talked quite a bit about this song in my "5 of the Best: COLDPLAY" post. But I'm just gonna confirm it... (more)

Vermicompost : How to Set up a Simple Worm Farm and Make Compost in 4 Months
Vermicompost is vital to good soil. The main contributors to this process is the lowly earthworm. However, more and more people nowadays are realizing how useful this little animal is. The casts, or the manure that is produced by eathworms, is called vermicompost.
The humble earthworm窶冱 activities result in numerous advantages:
1) If you start your own vermicompost heap you generate an endless supply of cheap compost that is chemically-free, eco friendly and uses up biodegradable matter that before one would dispose of.
2) The vermicompost is friable and improves not only the structure of the soil, but also the rate of water retention.
3) The soil is enriched. The concentrations of nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, and phosphates are all higher in soil that has earthworms.
4) Vermicompost also suppresses certain types of weeds that would have grown if the compost were not present.
5) It promotes better root... (more)

Tim is Bored Goals: SuccessI
I've been terrible at updating my goals on here. Which is okay: I've been terrible because I've been keeping up with them.
I finished the outline today. It ended up being, staggeringly, precisely the length I set out for it be. I'm confused.
There's still plenty of work to do, of course. This iteration of the outline has spawned several new characters who need things like names and backstories (never mind that one of the three main characters is still running around nameless). The next stage will be to do some world building on characters and locations, as well as probably a second, more in depth outline, followed by an actual draft.
Its slower this way, but much faster than I would have expected.
In the meantime, I've been on a strict schedule of one critique a week. Haven't actually gotten a story critiqued, yet, and I am hesitant to submit another piece without the benefit of such critique. But I've also written a couple more bits of flash, and have been slowly working through... (more)
